Go ahead. Mock the shirt. You didn't have any plans for your spleen anyway, right? Tiny didn't think so.

He also didn't think it was fair for Bo to take advantage of the plans he no longer had for the weekend to call in "I have a really big bathtub and I don't feel like getting out of it," but since she'd offered to reapply his sunscreen for him if he went over to her place after he closed up, he'd let her keep her spleen. This time.

fact: pouring a drink, fact: bartender
[info]hatesmoststuff
Her second week at work, April was taking the scientific approach: pouring things into glasses, combining them with other things, and evaluating the results.

Some were good. Some were okay. Some were getting donated to Tino so that he could experience how horrible they were for himself.

Poor guy kept falling for it. That was okay, though. It was funny.

Up on the sign where the specials usually went, April had scrawled:

$5 OFF YOUR DRINK IF YOU LET ME DECIDE WHAT'S IN IT

Dani was grateful to have her hands this weekend, since it made it much easier to tack up the horses. However, she was missing her cell phone. Some stupid goat had taken it for an appetizer the other day and what remained was definitely not usable. Maybe that's why Dani kept mumbling, "It could be worse," as she worked.

The Gig was open. The "Help Wanted" sign was still up, even if it looked like something had taken a bite out of it.

A couple weeks ago, with Billy, Topher had made a curious discovery: coffee was not horrible.

It was even less horrible, he was learning today, when he went and added a fuckton of sugar to it.

So he would just be behind the counter today. Experimenting -- and taking careful notes! -- to see exactly what the right amount of sugar in coffee was.

So far it was looking like a lot.

The Boards, Saturday, All Day
Thinking
[info]apocalipped
"Ugh."

It had been another productive several days back in Jonothon's reality. The New Warriors were starting to actually look almost competent, foiling enough crimes that they were actually starting to garner some notice by the media. Training sessions under Jubilee and Thrash were going... better. Jono had only almost accidentally blown everyone's eardrums out in the middle of a particularly nasty sim, and that had been something to think of as progress, in a way. And now they were eyeing one more potential candidate for the group, another former X-kid, by the name of Sofia.

It was weird, but Jono was almost starting to get the feeling that maybe they weren't just running in place, back there.

Coming home to the smell of livestock permeating the Boards far more thoroughly than it had been after the whole pony thing last weekend?

"Now, I know I didn't do that."

Jono's office shift in The Boards today was going to be spent putting out air fresheners, apparently.

With consideration to the complications that went along with working at a shop when you didn't have hands, Valentine was feeling incredibly appreciative of having a tech-savvy friend and an AI system in her bedroom. She'd gone to Samus and Jarvis with the task of creating a voice recognition system for the register, for those days when you were feeling less than capable of navigating the touchable features, and then they even stepped it up one more for security by throwing in a few other little details in recognizing the face and retinas to help prevent elaborate theft.

It seemed a little overkill at that point, especially considering that they had security cameras, but, at the same time, she knew how easy it was for someone to just wake up as you some days.

At the moment, though, Valentine was just having fun throwing her voice into different pitches to see it that worked, trying to imitate Apu effective, and just generally testing the range of what the new register could do. She'd have to make sure to talk to Frank about getting his voice in there; she still wasn't sure if she trusted Britta with the privilege yet.

Apparently amongst all the goat-related shenanigans, nobody at Goodvalors had taken note of the dozen or so crates of apples that had been dropped off yesterday.

So now there was an excess of apples. And when one had apples, one... made apple pie. Sure, it was probably infringing on JGoB's thing just a bit, but it wasn't as if the apples would be a regular feature. Hopefully. Assuming they could be used up reasonably quickly.

But when the slightly slobbered-on squirrel came into the station, jumped onto her desk and started making squirrel noises at her for a while, she figured her day got just a little weirder when she had to say, "I have no idea what you're trying to say."

A minute later, a badly-spelled "I WANT TO FILE A POLICE REPORT" was written on a piece of paper in really bad handwriting, and how was this her life.

The Causeway, Thursday at sundown
Fury impression
[info]firstnameagent
It would be wrong to say that Phil Coulson had seen an interesting couple of weeks. The first few days of it, with the Tesseract incident and the events on the Helicarrier? Exciting, sure. But then he was in and out of consciousness for a while and then had to rest up in a secretive medical center after major surgery. That might have been interesting to other people, but Coulson was too unconscious at the time to feel that way. Maybe the details of the surgery would have been interesting to other people, but to Coulson, it was just a thing that had to be done.

Since he had finally been discharged, he was onto the next mission: getting the hell away from New York and flat out lying to anyone who might recognize him. Nowhere on the dossier Director Fury handed him did it mention "fend off goats who want to eat your cell phone the second you cross the causeway." Fortunately, Coulson was more than happy to deck something with horns right about now, even if the puff of smoke was somewhat anti-climactic. But regardless, with the goat business behind him, Coulson started to make his way into town, keeping his eyes open for places to spend the night and earn a living. Also, for more goats. Seriously, what the hell was with those?

Oh, yeah, you might want to redirect your attention to the handmade sign on a piece of notebook paper taped in the window:

Knock for entry
If you are not a goat.

Petra had decided it was the most efficient solution. She had the music turned down low enough she could hear anyone knocking, but first they'd have to get rid of the creepy crying goat outside the door. It was so sad about being denied entry. So, so sad. Petra was trying really hard to ignore it, but it probably had about ten more minutes before she went out to find out what it would take to get rid of the darn thing.

Petra had a black belt. This would probably not end well for the goat.

Tara had just opened the shop when a goat wandered in through the open doors, looked at Tara with baleful eyes, and began deliberately munching on some jewelry and poultices on a sale table.

"Excuse me," Tara said uncertainly. "If you're a student trying to cure yourself, that's ... not gonna help, sorry."

The goat didn't answer, other than by moving along to graze on some dreamcatchers.

"Hey," Tara said indignantly. "Those kind of cost a lot of money? So, uh ... m-maybe don't eat them?"

The goat's only response was to look even sadder at being reprimanded as it continued to eat. And then a second goat joined it. This one seemed to like the taste of spellbooks.

Tara sighed and did her best to move the really valuable stuff out of the reach of goats while she attempted to persuade her guests to leave. Unless she figured out they needed to be punched -- which was unlikely, because Tara -- this was going to be a long day.

"What the--"

The goat tugged it off his belt and began gnawing on it.

"Give that back, you oversized mynock!" he snapped, reaching for it and giving it a tug. The goat... didn't let go. In fact, it tugged harder.

"You stupid--" Atton made a pissed-off sound in the back of his throat and lashed out with the full extent of his Echani training-- which, okay, he'd cop later might have been a little overkill, but the stupid thing was trying to take his fanny pack pouch-- and punched it straight in the forehead.

His pouch promptly dropped to the ground.

"Huh," he said. "Well, what do you know. Guess--"

One of April's many (slightly creepy) hobbies was sitting in a coffee shop and staring at passersby. Not looking. Staring.

It was actually one of her favorite activities. There were no words to describe the pleasure that April got from following someone with her eyes from all the way across the street, casting a judgmental look in the person's direction every time they stumbled or picked their nose. That, that right there -- it was pure bliss, plain and simple.

Or it was just a fun way to spend an evening. Whatever.

That was what April was doing this evening, at any rate. Nursing a coffee (which had improved significantly since the last time she'd come here, thank you so very much, barista) and staring at people. Fun, no?

"Perhaps I do not wish to divulge to my my secrets," said Apu, mysteriously, and maybe preening just a little bit.

"Come on, Apu."

"Perhaps it is just because I have been on this island for so long that I have built up an immunity to such things."

Britta narrowed her eyes skeptically at this possibility, but, slowly, she began to nod. "An immunity," she mused. "Just like with me and the gremlin bites."

Apu's eyes danced worriedly to Britta's arms, but, not wanting to go into that, he just sighed a little and nodded his head, taking up his broom to disappear down an aisle once more. "Yes, Miss Perry," he said consolingly, "that must be it."

Just because Terry had been warned about some things in Fandom didn't mean he'd been warned about everything. Like, for example, turning into a pony that looked like the Batsuit. He even had his logo on his side. It was annoying at best. Secret identity-spoiling at worst, although the fact that Batman had yet to make an appearance in Fandom would help keep that down.

On the other hand, flying via the power of pegasus wings was actually a lot of fun. And he was a pony. It's not like anyone would recognize him as Terry, even if they had any idea who he even was.

"I can't believe the old Batman would have ever done this," the current Batman said to himself as he landed on a rooftop. But hey, training was training. Maybe he'd need to know his top speed scampering across rooftops and through the sky while being a pony.

There was a pony with a green-white-grey colour scheme and an electrical current symbol for a cutie mark in the park, carefully carrying a lighter and a packet of cigarettes in its mouth. Sarah hadn't wanted to set her flat on fire, thanks. It had seemed like a better idea to head out before even trying to have a smoke. Of course, just trying to get out of MCA, let alone her apartment, had been absolutely bloody ridiculous, but she'd managed. She hadn't even begun to think about how this smoking thing was going to work, though. She'd get to that in good time.

Or right now. She stopped by a bench and carefully dropped the cigarettes and the lighter on it. And now, now she was thinking about her next dilemma.

"... Right."

Glancing around, she wasn't sure anyone would be willing to help a pony smoke, but anyone citing animal cruelty related ethical reasons for not helping was going to get kicked into the pond.

pony: disgruntled

This was not the first time Fandom had turned Topher into a pony. It was, however, the first time Fandom had turned him into a pony when Topher had a date planned.

Fandom, you were such an ass sometimes.

So he went to work, hovering a little behind the counter (because disgruntled or not, it wasn't like he was just going to waste the wings) and prodding at a circuit board with a hoof.

It didn't immediately break, but Topher decided it was best not to chance it and left it alone from there.

The Boards, Saturday, All Day
Pony
[info]apocalipped
This morning when Jono had woken up, after the inevitable falling flat on his face that he'd done in an attempt to get out of bed on two legs, and after that his attempt to run a coffee maker without benefit of opposable thumbs, he'd let out a stream of curse words that would have made a sailor blush. Or possibly Wolverine.

Look, without coffee in his system, the realization had taken a while to sink in, okay?

It had taken a bit of effort, but he eventually did manage to make it downstairs. It involved backing up slowly down the steps, because, no, there was no way in hell he was going to attempt to take them headfirst today. And he even managed the doorknob, though it was more than a touch frustrating, and he found himself telling himself before noon that he was going to start going to bed with his sonic collar on, too. This was, after all, a bit absurd.

His shift at the Boards today was going to be spent glowering at the paperwork he couldn't do, and at the music equipment he couldn't set up, and... There were posters he should finally hang, but there was no way in hell he was going to put thumbtacks into his mouth. Sigh.

The Boards were open, only a little late while Jono figured out how the hell to unlock the front door. And that was going to have to do.

Valentine was, admittedly, not too terribly surprised to wake up with four legs, a tail, and a distinctively equine quality about her that morning. This was, after all, Fandom, and she couldn't help but being a little indulgently amused to have things like that happening to her again. She was a little less amused by the obvious pink color to her fine coat and the unnecessarily addition of a big red bow as if to declare to anyone who was uncertain that she was the girl in the family, but, whatever, she'd roll with it.

Or trot, in this case.

She was also pleased to see, when she got into the shop today, that Apu was unaffected, since there was a lot of work to be done that day, and she didn't imagine she would get a lot of it done with hooves. She did find it a little fun to prance around him prettily for a little bit, though, as he just shook his head and warned that he wasn't cleaning up any droppings.

Today's Squishy flavor: Saltlick, Hay, Red

Eric was totally not there at all, being in a galaxy far, far away shut it, I'm tired, and Tiny was behind the bar running up his Angry Birds score. He'll serve you if you're of age, of course.

The Perk, Friday Evening
Snapple
[info]apocalipped
Another week, another excursion back to Jono's own reality, to do more training with the New Warriors. The moment he returned to the island, he decided that he was going to do something that didn't constitute work. And so returning home to the Boards right away? Right out.

He'd found himself a table by the window this evening, and was nursing a cup of coffee as he looked idly out at the people passing by on the street. Fandom's idea of 'bustle' was far less hustle than New York, but that was refreshing, really. After a few days of alternating between Jubilee's astoundingly hard-ass training regimen and making faces at posters glorifying the Initative while trying to stay out of notice in plain sight, Jono could really handle a bit of hustle-free bustle.

And maybe some cream in his coffee. Whoever brewed this batch put enough grounds in to make it strong enough to sit up and bark.

[Open Perk! Hi!]

For once, K-Mart had pretty much nothing to do at the shop, so she was attempting to be actually productive in terms of figuring out what she was doing with the rest of her life, since she wasn't doing the college thing. She'd figured out it just wasn't for her. But aside from that? She'd come up with precisely nothing.

Which would be why she was playing games on her laptop behind one of the counters instead of looking properly attentive. It wasn't like Sean would yell at her. He'd just give her that disappointed face that he was so good at making. But she'd deal with that if it came.
